Pleasure & pain

My Saturday morning ride with the rugby Dads was a mixture of pleasure and pain.  It was cold (again) at -1oC. The sky was a beautiful red (shepherds warning). The six of us cycled out to Harewood House.  The fields and tracks were lightly frozen. Enough so that you would sink as you went along. Harewood House has Fallow and Red deer. The Fallow Bucks were wandering over the road as we cycled through. A fabulous sight.  Unfortunately as we were leaving HH, I skidded on a frozen cattle grid and fell into it. Huge bruise on hip/bottom, bent derailleur and damaged pride. My free rescue package thro' CTC didn't work as they couldn't find me and the office was closed until 9am, so a long, slow, painful ride back with middle and top gears only. Not much help for getting up the Chevin!  Worth it though!
